Abstract
A method is provided for selective processing of sensor data, and more particularly, to parsing sensor data from a data stream to identify sensor data relevant to specific requests, and processing the relevant data based on the type of request. Methods include: receiving a campaign management request defining requested source data metrics; receiving source data from a plurality of sources within a geographic area; determining a subset of the source data that satisfies the requested source data metrics; processing the subset of the source data satisfying the requested source data metrics to obtain observations; and updating map data of a map database based on the observations.

An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and computer program code configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to at least:
- analyze data for a geographic region to identify a target area, wherein the target area comprises a defined geographic boundary, wherein the target area is determined based on a need to update or build map data within the target area;
- receive a campaign management request defining requested source data metrics, wherein the requested source data metrics defines a profile of data that is relevant to the campaign management request and wherein the profile comprises the target area and at least one of a specified data quality or data reliability;
- receive source data from a plurality of sources within a geographic area;
- determine a subset of the source data that satisfies the requested source data metrics, wherein the subset of the source data is from the target area within the geographic area;
- process the subset of the source data satisfying the requested source data metrics to obtain observations;
- update map data of a digital map database based on the observations, wherein the observations determined to correspond to existing observations of an existing model are used to update timestamps of the existing observations without updating the existing observations, and wherein the observations determined to not correspond to the existing observations of the existing model are used to update the existing observations;
- and
- provide for semi-autonomous vehicle control using the updated map data.
A method comprising:
- analyzing data for a geographic region to identify a target area, wherein the target area comprises a defined geographic boundary, wherein the target area is determined based on a need to update or build map data within the target area;
- receiving a campaign management request defining requested source data metrics, wherein the requested source data metrics defines a profile of data that is relevant to the campaign management request and wherein the profile comprises the target area and at least one of a specified data quality or data reliability;
- receiving source data from a plurality of sources within a geographic area;
- determining a subset of the source data that satisfies the requested source data metrics, wherein the subset of the source data is from the target area within the geographic area;
- processing the subset of the source data satisfying the requested source data metrics to obtain observations;
- updating map data of a digital map database based on the observations, wherein the observations determined to correspond to existing observations of an existing model are used to update timestamps of the existing observations without updating the existing observations, and wherein the observations determined to not correspond to the existing observations of the existing model is used to update the existing observations;
- and
- providing for semi-autonomous vehicle control using the updated map data.
A computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable program code instructions stored therein, the computer-executable program code instructions comprising program code instructions to:
- analyze data for a geographic region to identify a target area, wherein the target area comprises a defined geographic boundary, wherein the target area is determined based on a need to update or build map data within the target area;
- receive a campaign management request defining requested source data metrics, wherein the requested source data metrics defines a profile of data that is relevant to the campaign management request and wherein the profile comprises the target area and at least one of a specified data quality or data reliability;
- receive source data from a plurality of sources within a geographic area;
- determine a subset of the source data that satisfies the requested source data metrics, wherein the subset of the source data is from the target area within the geographic area;
- process the subset of the source data satisfying the requested source data metrics to obtain observations;
- update map data of a digital map database based on the observations, wherein the observations determined to correspond to existing observations of an existing model are used to update timestamps of the existing observations without updating the existing observations, and wherein the observations determined to not correspond to the existing observations of the existing model is used to update the existing observations;
- and
- provide for semi-autonomous vehicle control using the updated map data.
