Gutter hanger and covering system

A dual-purpose gutter guard for covering a gutter and hanging the gutter from a fascia board, wherein the gutter has a gutter lip, a hem, a front gutter wall, a bottom gutter wall, and a rear gutter wall, the dual-purpose gutter guard comprising:

• a rear connection structure configured to couple to the rear gutter wall;
• a front connection structure configured to engage an underside of the gutter lip and tuck into the hem to couple the dual-purpose gutter guard to the gutter lip;
• and
• a central portion configured to cover an open top of the gutter, the central portion comprising a primary covering section for covering at least a portion of the open top of the gutter and an angled debris lifter extending forward and upward from the primary covering section toward the front connection structure;
• wherein the front connection structure comprises a rearward projecting finger configured to engage the hem of the gutter lip;
• wherein the angled debris lifter comprises an apex and wherein the rearward projecting finger comprises a tip spaced apart from the apex by an open gap.
