System and method for a working machine

A working machine comprising a system for mapping one or more characteristics of a body of a harvested crop stored in a storage space for forming a single contiguous body of harvested crop, the system comprising:

• a controller;
• a first device assembly providing an input to the controller;
• a second device assembly providing an input to the controller,
• wherein the controller is configured to determine one or more characteristics respectively of each of a plurality of portions of the body of the harvested crop, the one or more characteristics comprising one or more of dry matter content, moisture content, level of contamination, and/or one or more nutrient values, prior to the deposition of each of said portions in the storage space, based on at least the input from the first device assembly;
• and
• a load handling apparatus for handling the plurality of portions of the body of the harvested crop and depositing each of the plurality of portions of the body of the harvested crop in the storage space,
• wherein the controller is configured to determine a respective location within the storage space at which location each of said portions is deposited in the storage space based on at least the input from the second device assembly,
• wherein the controller is configured to store the respective determined one or more characteristics and the respective determined location of each of said portions in a database,
• wherein the controller is configured to determine the location for depositing one or more additional portions of the body of the harvested crop within the storage space based on the one or more determined characteristics of one or more previously deposited portions of body of the harvested crop to achieve a desired distribution of characteristics within the single contiguous body of harvested crop in the storage space, and
• wherein the working machine further comprises:
• a ground engaging structure for moving over the body of the harvested crop.

A computer implemented method for mapping one or more characteristics of a body of a harvested crop stored in a storage space for forming a single contiguous body of harvested crop, the method comprising:

• (a) determining, via a first device assembly, one or more characteristics respectively of each of a plurality of portions of the body of the harvested crop, the one or more characteristics comprising one or more of dry matter content, moisture content, level of contamination, and/or one or more nutrient values, prior to the deposition of each of said portions in the storage space;
• (b) determining, via a second device assembly, a respective location within the storage space at which location each of said portions is deposited in the storage space;
• and
• (c) storing, in a database, the respective determined one or more characteristics and the respective determined location of each of said portions,
• wherein the controller is configured to determine the location for depositing one or more additional portions of the body of the harvested crop within the storage space based on the one or more determined characteristics of one or more previously deposited portions of body of the harvested crop to achieve a desired distribution of characteristics within the single contiguous body of harvested crop in the storage space.
