Abstract
A bipedal robot includes an upper region includes a head and neck assembly having a neck portion and a head portion coupled to the neck portion. Said head portion includes: a frontal shell having a rear edge, a rear shell having a frontal edge, and an illumination assembly. The illumination assembly is configured to illuminate a region that: (i) extends between a rear edge of the frontal shell and an extent of the frontal edge of the rear shell, (ii) is positioned adjacent to the extent of the rear edge of the frontal shell, and (iii) is positioned adjacent to the extent of the frontal edge of the rear shell.
Claims29
A bipedal robot having a transverse and a sagittal plane, and wherein said bipedal robot comprises:
- an upper region including:
- (i) a torso, (ii) a pair of arm assemblies coupled to the torso, and (iii) a head and neck assembly coupled to the torso and having:
- a head housing assembly with a first shell that includes an outer surface within a curvilinear extent;
- a first camera positioned within the head housing assembly and rearward of an extent of the first shell, and whereby a first camera gap is formed between the first camera and an inner surface of the first shell;
- a second camera positioned within the head housing assembly and rearward of the extent of the first shell, and whereby a second camera gap is formed between the second camera and an inner surface of the first shell;
- and
- wherein when the head and neck assembly is in a forward facing orientation:
- (i) the first camera includes a first camera surface that is substantially parallel with the sagittal plane, and (ii) the second camera includes a second camera surface that is substantially parallel with the sagittal plane, and (iii) the head and neck assembly includes a plane:
- (a) that is substantially parallel with the transverse plane, and (b) intersects the first and second camera surfaces.
A bipedal robot comprising:
- a head and neck assembly with a horizontal plane and including:
- a head portion having:
- a first shell including a first shell edge, and wherein when the head and neck assembly is in a forward facing orientation, an obtuse angle is formed between an extent of the first shell edge and the horizontal plane, and
- a second shell including an opaque polymeric material and having an extent positioned rearward of the first shell;
- and
- a neck portion having a deformable cover;
- and
- a fan configured to draw air from outside of the head portion into said head portion.
A bipedal robot comprising:
- a head and neck assembly including:
- (i) a horizontal plane, and (ii) a first shell with a first shell edge and an outer surface with a curvilinear extent, and wherein said first shell does not extend rearward of an auricular region of the head and neck assembly, and wherein the first shell edge includes:
- a first substantially linear extent, and wherein when the head and neck assembly is in a forward facing orientation, an obtuse angle is formed between the first substantially linear extent and the horizontal plane,
- a second substantially linear extent that is coplanar with the first substantially linear extent, and
- a third extent positioned between the first and second substantially linear extents, and wherein a portion of the third extent is offset from a plane that includes the first and second substantially linear extents.
