Abstract
Data integration systems and methods for integrating and displaying data collected from one or more of a player device, a golf ball, or a golf hole. In some embodiments, the systems and methods can receive golf club data from the player device, and receive golf ball data from a golf ball, receive golf ball positional data from a position sensor, or both, and integrate the data received. In some embodiments, the integrated data can be displayed on the display screen of a player device. In some embodiments, the integrated data can be used to track a player's performance with different golf clubs. In some embodiments, the integrated data can be used to track a player's performance at a golf entertainment venue.
Claims19
A system for integrating data at a golf entertainment venue, the system comprising:
- a plurality of teeing areas, each of the respective teeing areas comprising a respective teeing area transmitter;
- a plurality of golf holes, each of the respective golf holes comprising a respective hole transmitter;
- a plurality of golf balls, each golf ball comprising a golf ball identifier and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor;
- one or more memories that store a golf ball registration database, the golf ball registration database comprising each of the golf ball identifiers;
- and
- one or more processors configured to execute instructions stored in the one or more memories, the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, configuring the one or more processors to:
- register a first one of the golf ball identifiers with a first player at the golf entertainment venue;
- identify, by data received from a first one of the teeing area transmitters, the first golf ball identifier at a first one of the teeing areas within the golf entertainment venue;
- identify, by data received from a first one of the hole transmitters, the first golf ball identifier at a first one of the golf holes within the golf entertainment venue;
- receive data while the golf ball comprising the first golf ball identifier is between the first teeing area and the first golf hole, the received data being received from at least:
- (i) the IMU sensor of the golf ball comprising the first golf ball identifier and (ii) a position sensor configured to determine a location of the golf ball, wherein the received data comprises a timestamp received from the IMU sensor and a timestamp received from the position sensor;
- correlate the data received from the IMU sensor and the position sensor at least in part by correlating the timestamps;
- receive a number of strokes taken between the first teeing area and the first golf hole;
- and
- display, on a display screen of a player device, the first player's score based on the number of strokes taken between the first teeing area and the first golf hole.
A system for integrating data at a golf entertainment venue, the system comprising:
- a plurality of golf balls, each golf ball comprising a golf ball identifier comprising an NFC chip;
- a plurality of teeing areas, each of the respective teeing areas comprising:
- a respective teeing area NFC receiver configured to read the NFC chips and a respective teeing area transmitter;
- a plurality of golf holes, each of the respective golf holes comprising:
- a respective hole NFC receiver configured to read the NFC chips and a respective hole transmitter;
- one or more memories that store a golf ball registration database, the golf ball registration database comprising each of the golf ball identifiers;
- and
- one or more processors configured to execute instructions stored in the one or more memories, the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, configuring the one or more processors to:
- register a first one of the golf ball identifiers with a first player at the golf entertainment venue;
- identify, by data received from a first one of the teeing area transmitters, the first golf ball identifier at a first one of the teeing areas within the golf entertainment venue;
- identify, by data received from a first one of the hole transmitters, the first golf ball identifier at a first one of the golf holes within the golf entertainment venue;
- receive data while the golf ball comprising the first golf ball identifier is between the first teeing area and the first golf hole, the received data being received from at least:
- (i) the NFC chip of the golf ball comprising the first golf ball identifier;
- (ii) the teeing area NFC receiver;
- (iii) the hole NFC receiver;
- and (iv) a position sensor configured to determine a location of the golf ball, wherein the received data comprises a timestamp received from each of the NFC chip of the golf ball, the teeing area NFC receiver, the hole NFC receiver, and the position sensor;
- correlate the data received from the NFC chip of the golf ball, the teeing area NFC receiver, the hole NFC receiver, and the position sensor by correlating the timestamps;
- receive a number of strokes taken between the first teeing area and the first golf hole;
- and
- display, on a display screen of a player device, the first player's score based on the number of strokes taken between the first teeing area and the first golf hole.
