Abstract
A cap for an injection device includes a removable needle boot for covering a needle of a syringe within the injection device. The cap comprises a cap body and a first boot engagement portion. The first boot engagement portion is movable relative to the cap body and comprises a first pinch portion. The first pinch portion is configured such that application of compressive force to the first pinch portion effects engagement of the first boot engagement portion with the needle boot for removal of the needle boot with the cap as it is removed from the injection device.
Claims31
A cap for an injection device, wherein the injection device includes a removable needle boot for covering a needle of a syringe within the injection device, and a syringe housing for housing the syringe, said cap comprising:
- a cap body;
- a housing engagement portion configured to be received in an opening of the syringe housing through which the needle extends and engage with a corresponding cap engagement portion of the syringe housing to retain the cap within the opening of the syringe housing;
- and
- a first boot engagement portion movable relative to the cap body, the first boot engagement portion comprising:
- a first pinch portion configured to, when the housing engagement portion is received in the opening of the syringe housing and a compressive force is applied to the first pinch portion, both 1) move the first boot engagement portion to engage with the needle boot and 2) move the housing engagement portion to disengage from the housing such that the cap is configured to cause removal of the needle boot from the needle when the cap is removed from the injection device.
