Reporting configurations for channel and interference measurement

A method for wireless communication at a base station, comprising:

• allocating a resource for a channel measurement, wherein a first resource setting for the channel measurement comprises the allocated resource;
• configuring, for a user equipment, a report configuration comprising a first set of quasi co-location parameters for channel measurement and a second set of quasi co-location parameters for interference measurement, wherein:
• the first set of quasi co-location parameters comprises a quasi co-location reference indicative of a first spatial receive beam to be used for the channel measurement on the allocated resource, the quasi co-location reference indicative of the first spatial receive beam comprising a first quasi co-location TypeD reference;
• the second set of quasi co-location parameters comprises a quasi co-location reference indicative of a second spatial receive beam to be used for the interference measurement;
• and
• at least one quasi co-location reference associated with a first quasi co-location parameter of the first set of quasi co-location parameters is different than a quasi co-location reference associated with a second quasi co-location parameter of the second set of quasi co-location parameters;
• and
• transmitting the report configuration to the user equipment.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• one or more processors of a user equipment;
• a transceiver coupled with the one or more processors;
• and
• memory coupled with the one or more processors, the memory and the one or more processors configured to cause the apparatus to:
• receive, from a base station via the transceiver, a report configuration comprising a first set of quasi co-location parameters for channel measurement and a second set of quasi co-location parameters for interference measurement;
• identify a resource for the channel measurement based at least in part on a first resource setting for the channel measurement;
• perform, using a first spatial receive beam associated with a quasi co-location reference from the first set of quasi co-location parameters, the quasi co-location reference from the first set of quasi co-location parameters comprising a first quasi co-location TypeD reference, the channel measurement on the identified resource based at least in part on the first resource setting for the channel measurement and the first set of quasi co-location parameters;
• perform, using a second spatial receive beam associated with a quasi co-location reference from the second set of quasi co-location parameters, the interference measurement based at least in part on a second resource setting for the interference measurement and the second set of quasi co-location parameters, wherein the quasi co-location reference from the second set of quasi co-location parameters is different from quasi co-location reference from the first set of quasi co-location parameters;
• and
• transmit, to the base station via the transceiver, a report based at least in part on the channel measurement and the interference measurement.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• one or more processors of a base station;
• and
• memory coupled with the one or more processors, the memory and the one or more processors configured to cause the apparatus to:
• allocate a resource for a channel measurement, wherein a first resource setting for the channel measurement comprises the allocated resource;
• configure, for a user equipment, a report configuration comprising a first set of quasi co-location parameters for channel measurement and a second set of quasi co-location parameters for interference measurement, wherein:
• the first set of quasi co-location parameters comprises a quasi co-location reference indicative of a first spatial receive beam to be used for the channel measurement on the allocated resource, the quasi co-location reference indicative of the first spatial receive beam comprising a first quasi co-location TypeD reference;
• and wherein
• the second set of quasi co-location parameters comprises a quasi co-location reference indicative of a second spatial receive beam to be used for the interference measurement;
• and
• at least one quasi co-location reference associated with a first quasi co-location parameter of the first set of quasi co-location parameters is different than a quasi co-location reference associated with a second quasi co-location parameter of the second set of quasi co-location parameters;
• and
• transmit, via the transceiver, the report configuration to the user equipment.
