Abstract
Systems and methods for configuring a System-on-Chip (SoC) during boot of an Information Handling System (IHS). In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an IHS may include a SoC and a memory coupled to the SoC, the memory having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution, cause the IHS to: during pre-boot, select one or more elements of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) by a Basic Input Output System (BIOS) based, at least in part, upon an identifier of the SoC, where the one or more elements enable a user to change one or more settings of the SoC before any Operating System (OS) takes control of the IHS; and render the GUI to the user.
Claims20
An Information Handling System (IHS), comprising:
- a System-on-Chip (SoC);
- and
- a memory coupled to the SoC, the memory having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution, cause the IHS to:
- during pre-boot, determine an identifier indicating a type of the SoC;
- based on the type of the SoC indicated by the determined identifier, select a SoC configuration file corresponding to the SoC;
- select one or more elements of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) by a Basic Input Output System (BIOS) from the selected SoC configuration file, wherein the one or more elements enable a user to change one or more settings of the SoC before any Operating System (OS) takes control of the IHS;
- and
- render the GUI to the user.
A method, comprising:
- during pre-boot, determining an identifier indicating a type of a System-on-Chip (SoC);
- based on the type of the SoC indicated by the determined identifier, selecting a SoC configuration file corresponding to the SoC;
- selecting one or more graphical elements by a Basic Input Output System (BIOS) from the selected SoC configuration file, wherein the one or more graphical elements enable a user to change one or more settings of the SoC before any Operating System (OS) takes control of the IHS;
- and
- creating a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for display to a user based, at least in part, upon the selected one or more graphical elements.
A hardware memory device having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by a processor, cause the processor to:
- during pre-boot, determine an identifier indicating a type of a System-on-Chip (SoC);
- based on the type of the SoC indicated by the determined identifier, select a SoC configuration file corresponding to the SoC;
- select one or more graphical elements by a Basic Input Output System (BIOS) from the selected SoC configuration file, wherein the one or more graphical elements enable a user to change one or more settings of the SoC before any Operating System (OS) takes control of the IHS;
- and
- create a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for display to a user based, at least in part, upon the selected one or more graphical elements.
