Abstract
A system for monitoring conveyor belts is disclosed. The system includes a generator array, a sensor array and circuitry. The generator array is configured to apply a magnetic field to a conveyor belt. The sensor array is configured to measure a plurality of magnetic responses. The circuitry is configured to determine the source or cause of the observed steel cord damage based on the measured plurality of magnetic responses.
Claims18
A system for monitoring steel cord damage within a conveyor belt to determine potential root cause(s) of damages, the system comprising:
- a generator array configured to apply a magnetic field to a conveyor belt;
- a sensor array configured to measure a plurality of magnetic responses;
- and
- circuitry configured to a map a plurality of damage events of the conveyor belt, identify a damage pattern based on the map, identify one or more root causes for the identified damage pattern, and utilize machine learning based on the tracked damage pattern to identify damage patterns associated with specific root causes for that damage, wherein the map comprises a transverse location and a longitudinal location for each damage event and the circuitry is configured to track the development of a given conveyor belt damage pattern over time.

- a proximity sensory to measure the position of the edge of the belt to more accurately provide transverse belt position for damage location data;
- and
- the map comprising a transverse location and a longitudinal location for each damage event, wherein the circuitry is configured to track a given conveyor belt damage pattern over time.
