Systems and operations of transfer hubs for autonomous trucking systems

An autonomous vehicle (AV) configured to:

• responsive to the AV stopping, obtain, at a first time and using a sensing system of the AV, one or more first images of an outside environment;
• shut down a data processing system of the AV;
• initiate a starting-up of the data processing system of the AV;
• obtain, at a second time, one or more second images of the outside environment of the AV;
• determine, based on a comparison of the one or more first images to the one or more second images, that the AV has not moved between the first time and the second time;
• and
• complete, responsive to determining that the AV has not moved, the starting-up of the data processing system of the AV.

One or more robotic devices, comprising:

• an autonomous vehicle (AV) tractor configured to:
• stop, while operating in an autonomous driving mode;
• obtain, at a first time and using a sensing system of the AV, one or more first images of an outside environment;
• shut down a data processing system of the AV tractor;
• initiate a starting-up of the data processing system of the AV tractor;
• obtain, at a second time, one or more second images of the outside environment of the AV tractor;
• determine, based on a comparison of the one or more first images to the one or more second images, that the AV tractor has not moved between the first time and the second time;
• and
• complete, responsive to determining that the AV tractor has not moved, the starting-up of the data processing system of the AV tractor.
