Abstract
Systems, methods, and controllers for a global headlamp. An example method includes obtaining configuration information indicative of a jurisdiction and a vehicle model associated with a vehicle. Headlamp state information is generated based on the vehicle model and jurisdiction. A propagation is output via a pixelated light source in a headlamp of the vehicle, the propagation representing a particular beam pattern which is compliant with the jurisdiction.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method, the method performed by a headlamp controller included in a vehicle, the headlamp controller configured to control a headlamp of the vehicle, and the method comprising:
- obtaining configuration information indicative of a jurisdiction associated with the vehicle;
- generating headlamp state information based at least in part on the jurisdiction as indicated by the configuration information, the headlamp state information comprising an activation pattern of emissive elements of a pixelated light source in the headlamp, the activation pattern being selected from a plurality of activation patterns including:
- a first activation pattern associated with a first jurisdiction, the first activation pattern comprising activation of emissive elements in at least a first row and second row but no activation of emissive elements in a third row of the pixelated light source;
- and
- a second activation pattern associated with a second jurisdiction, the second activation pattern comprising activation of emissive elements in at least the first row but no activation of emissive elements in the second row or third row of the pixelated light source;
- and
- causing output, via the pixelated light source in the headlamp, of a propagation based on the headlamp state information, the propagation representing a particular beam pattern which is compliant with the jurisdiction,
- the pixelated light source comprising at least the first row second row, and third row of emissive elements.
A system of a vehicle for propagating light that complies with requirements of multiple jurisdictions, comprising:
- a headlamp comprising a pixelated light source, the pixelated light source comprising at least a first row, second row, and third row of emissive elements;
- and
- a controller to control the pixelated light source to output propagations representing particular beam patterns, the headlamp being configured to generate a plurality of beam patterns which are compliant with a plurality of jurisdictions,
- the plurality of beam patterns comprising:
- a first beam pattern associated with a first jurisdiction, the first beam pattern being generated by activation of emissive elements in at least the first row and second row but no activation of emissive elements in the third row of the pixelated light source;
- and
- a second beam pattern associated with a second jurisdiction, the second beam pattern comprising activation of emissive elements in at least the first row but no activation of emissive elements in the second row or third row of the pixelated light source.
A headlamp controller included in a vehicle, the headlamp controller controlling a headlamp of the vehicle, and the headlamp controller comprising one or more processing elements which are configured to:
- obtain configuration information indicative of a jurisdiction associated with the vehicle;
- generate headlamp state information based at least in part on the jurisdiction as indicated by the configuration information, the headlamp state information comprising an activation pattern of emissive elements of a pixelated light source in the headlamp, the activation pattern being selected from a plurality of activation patterns including:
- a first activation pattern associated with a first jurisdiction, the first activation pattern comprising activation of emissive elements in at least a first row and second row but no activation of emissive elements in a third row of the pixelated light source;
- and
- a second activation pattern associated with a second jurisdiction, the second activation pattern comprising activation of emissive elements in at least the first row but no activation of emissive elements in the second row or third row of the pixelated light source;
- and
- cause output, via the pixelated light source in the headlamp, of a propagation based on the headlamp state information, the propagation representing a particular beam pattern which is compliant with the jurisdiction, the pixelated light source comprising at least the first row, second row, and third row of emissive elements.
