Asymmetric clip applier and cartridge

A clip applier configured to apply a surgical clip, the clip applier comprising:

• a first jaw member configured to engage a first leg member of the surgical clip, the first jaw member including a first longitudinal wall and a second longitudinal wall;
• a second jaw member configured to engage a second leg member of the surgical clip, the second jaw member including a third longitudinal wall and a fourth longitudinal wall;
• a first longitudinal channel separating the first and second longitudinal walls of the first jaw member;
• and
• a second longitudinal channel separating the third and fourth longitudinal walls of the second jaw member;
• wherein at least one of the first jaw member and the second jaw member is asymmetric about a medial plane of the clip applier, and
• wherein a distal portion of the first longitudinal wall has a first width, a distal portion of the second longitudinal wall has a second width, a distal portion of the third longitudinal wall has a third width, a distal portion of the fourth longitudinal wall has fourth width, and the first width is greater than the second width and/or the third width is greater than the fourth width.
