Abstract
A helmet accessory mounting system includes a mounting device configured to couple to an outer surface of a side of a helmet. The mounting device includes a plurality of mounting locations configured to removeably couple to at least one accessory. A plurality of the plurality of mounting locations each includes an electrical node. A power supply is coupled to the mounting device. An electrical supply line electrically couples the power supply to each of the electrical nodes and the electrical supply line is contained at least partially within the mounting device.
Claims18
A helmet accessory mounting system comprising:
- a mounting device configured to couple to an outer surface of a side of a helmet, the mounting device including a plurality of mounting locations configured to releasably couple to at least one accessory, a plurality of the plurality of mounting locations each including an electrical node;
- a power supply coupled to the mounting device;
- an electrical supply line electrically coupling the power supply to each of the electrical nodes, the electrical supply line contained at least partially within the mounting device;
- and
- a sensor configured to sense a condition associated with the at least one accessory being coupled to the mounting device,
- wherein the sensor is further configured to detect whether the at least one accessory is connected to the electrical nodes and at which electrical node the at least one accessory is electrically connected to.
A helmet accessory mounting system comprising:
- a mounting device configured to couple to an outer surface of a side of a helmet, the mounting device including a plurality of mounting locations configured to releasably couple to at least one accessory, a plurality of the plurality of mounting locations each including an electrical node;
- a power supply coupled to the mounting device;
- an electrical supply line electrically coupling the power supply to each of the electrical nodes, the electrical supply line contained at least partially within the mounting device;
- a data line coupling each of the electrical nodes, wherein the data line is configured to transmit first accessory data from a first accessory connected at one of the electrical nodes to a second accessory connected at another of the electrical nodes;
- and
- a sensor configured to sense a condition associated with the at least one accessory being coupled to the mounting device,
- wherein the sensor is further configured to detect whether the at least one accessory is connected to the electrical nodes and at which electrical node the at least one accessory is electrically connected to,
- wherein the first accessory data includes first accessory state data representative of the state of the first accessory, and
- wherein the second accessory changes from operating in a first state to operating in a second state in response to receiving the first accessory state data from the first accessory.
