Abstract
There is disclosed a method of operating a wireless device for a wireless communication network. The method includes transmitting a random access preamble from a set of preambles, the set of preambles being from one of a first set of first preambles and a second set of second preambles, wherein the random access preamble and/or the set of the random access preamble is based on a reception characteristic of reference signaling received by the wireless device. The disclosure also pertains to related devices and methods.
Claims18
A method of operating a wireless device for a wireless communication network, the method comprising:
- transmitting a random access preamble from a set of preambles, the set of preambles being from one of a first set of first preambles and a second set of second preambles, the set of the random access preambles is selected based on a reception characteristic of a reference signaling beam received by the wireless device, the reception characteristic indicating whether the reference signaling beam is directed to a cell edge.
A wireless device for a wireless communication network, the wireless device configured to:
- transmit a random access preamble from a set of preambles, the set of preambles being from one of a first set of first preambles and a second set of second preambles, the set of the random access preambles is selected based on a reception characteristic of a reference signaling beam received by the wireless device, the reception characteristic indicating whether the reference signaling beam is directed to a cell edge.
A method of operating a network node for a wireless communication network, the method comprising:
- receiving a random access preamble, from a set of preambles, the set of preambles being from one of a first set of first preambles and a second set of second preambles, the set of the random access preambles is selected based on a reception characteristic of a reference signaling beam received by a wireless device, the reception characteristic indicating whether the reference signaling beam is directed to a cell edge.
A network node for a wireless communication network, the network node configured to:
- receive a random access preamble, from a set of preambles, the set of preambles being from one of a first set of first preambles and a second set of second preambles, the set of the random access preambles is selected based on a reception characteristic of a reference signaling beam received by a wireless device, the reception characteristic indicating whether the reference signaling beam is directed to a cell edge.
A non-transitory computer storage medium storing a computer program comprising instructions causing processing circuitry to one or both control and perform a method, the method comprising:
- transmitting a random access preamble from a set of preambles, the set of preambles being from one of a first set of first preambles and a second set of second preambles, the set of the random access preambles is selected based on a reception characteristic of a reference signaling beam received by a wireless device, the reception characteristic indicating whether the reference signaling beam is directed to a cell edge.
