Broadcast reception device and video display method

A broadcast receiving device comprising:

• a tuner configured to receive a broadcast wave of a digital broadcast service;
• a separator configured to separate at least video information and audio information of a broadcast program from the received broadcast wave;
• a video decoder configured to decode the video information of the broadcast program;
• a network interface configured to communicate with a server on a network;
• a processor configured to perform control to acquire additional data related to the broadcast program via the network interface;
• an interpolator configured to execute video interpolation processing, based on the acquired additional data, on video of the broadcast program decoded by the video decoder;
• a memory configured to store the acquired additional data;
• a display capable of displaying at least one of the video decoded by the video decoder or the video subjected to the video interpolation processing on the decoded video;
• an audio decoder configured to decode the audio information of the broadcast program;
• and
• a speaker configured to output audio based on the decoded audio information, wherein
• the processor is configured to be able to acquire at least part of the additional data before a broadcast start time of the broadcast program,
• the processor is configured to, after start of the broadcast program, execute the video interpolation processing using the acquired at least part of the additional data, and
• the processor is configured to display, on the display, the decoded video or the video subjected to the video interpolation processing on the decoded video, based on selection of a user determining whether to display the video subjected to the video interpolation processing.
