Enabling communications between applications in a mobile operating system

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the computer-readable storage medium including instructions that when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:

• confirm, by a first application using operating system (OS), that a second application to which a first link generated by the first application is directed is installed on the OS by validating at least a portion of the first link, wherein the at least a portion of the first link is validated using an application programming interface (API) of the OS prior to the OS opening the second application;
• open, by the OS based on the first link, the second application;
• generate, by the second application, a second link directed to the first application, wherein the second link comprises an encrypted parameter;
• open, by the OS based on the second link generated by the second application, the first application;
• and
• receive, by the first application, data from the second application by decrypting the encrypted parameter included in the second link.

A computing apparatus comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
• confirm, by a first application using an operating system (OS), that a second application to which a first link generated by the first application is directed is installed on the OS by validating at least a portion of the first link using an application programming interface (API) of the OS prior to the OS opening the second application;
• open, by the OS based on the first link, a second application;
• generate, by the second application, a second link directed to the first application, wherein the second link comprises an encrypted parameter;
• open, by the OS based on the second link generated by the second application, the first application;
• and
• receive, by the first application, data from the second application by decrypting the encrypted parameter included in the second link.
