Methods and apparatus to credit media based on presentation rate

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, having stored thereon program instructions that, upon execution by a processor, cause performance of a set of operations comprising:

• obtaining, from a meter, peak data and a signature,
• wherein the peak data and the signature are both generated by the meter from audio data, and
• wherein the audio data corresponds to output of a media presentation on a media device;
• determining, based on the peak data, that a presentation rate of the media presentation is different from an original presentation rate,
• wherein the presentation rate is indicative of a speed at which the media presentation was presented on the media device;
• and
• flagging, based on the determining that the presentation rate of the media presentation is different from the original presentation rate, the signature.

A computing system comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, having stored thereon program instructions that, upon execution by the processor, cause performance of a set of operations comprising:
• receiving, from a meter, peak data and a signature,
• wherein the peak data and the signature are both generated by the meter from audio data, and
• wherein the audio data corresponds to output of a media presentation on a media device;
• determining, using the peak data, a presentation rate of the media presentation is different than an original presentation rate,
• wherein the presentation rate is indicative of a speed at which the media presentation was presented on a media device;
• comparing, based on the presentation rate being different than the original presentation rate, the signature to a reference signature,
• identifying, based on a comparison of the signature to the reference signature, the media presentation;
• and
• crediting the media presentation.
