Abstract
A method of operating a centrifugal pump (10) having a casing (62) in which a rotatable impeller (20) is disposed, the rotatable impeller (20) having a number (L) of vanes for urging, when the rotatable impeller (20) rotates, the fluid material (30) from a pump inlet (66) into the volute (75), the method comprising receiving a vibration signal (SEP; SEA, SMD, Se(i), S(j), S(q)) dependent on a fluid material pulsation (Vp); receiving a signal (Ep, P(i), P(j), P(q)) indicative of a rotational position of said rotatable impeller (20) in relation to said casing; generating, based on said vibration signal and said position signal, information indicative of an internal state of the centrifugal pump (10).
Claims18
A system comprising:
- a centrifugal pump having a casing in which a rotatable impeller is disposed, the casing defining a volute and a shaped portion forming an outlet, the rotatable impeller having a first number of vanes defining impeller passages for urging, when the impeller rotates, a fluid material into the volute, thereby causing a fluid material pulsation having a repetition frequency dependent on a speed of rotation of the impeller;
- wherein said first number is higher than one;
- the system further comprising
- a vibration sensor for generating a vibration signal dependent on the fluid material pulsation;
- a position sensor for generating a signal indicative of a rotational position of said rotatable impeller in relation to said casing, and
- a status parameter extractor configured to
- extract, from said vibration signal and said position signal, a first status value indicative of an internal state, of said centrifugal pump during operation;
- wherein
- said status parameter extractor is configured to detect a first occurrence of a first reference position signal value in a time sequence of position signal sample values indicative of a certain number of stationary reference positions per impeller revolution;
- said certain number being equal to said first number;
- said status parameter extractor being configured to detect a second occurrence of a second reference position signal value in said time sequence of position signal sample values;
- said status parameter extractor being configured to detect a third occurrence of an event signature in a time sequence of vibration sample values;
- said event signature being a vibration signal amplitude peak value indicative of a fluid pressure generated when the rotating impeller interacts with said fluid material;
- wherein said vibration signal amplitude peak value is repetitive with a first frequency of one vibration signal amplitude peak value per vane;
- said fluid material pulsation repetition frequency being equal to said first frequency;
- said status parameter extractor being configured to generate data indicative of a first duration between said first occurrence and said second occurrence;
- and
- said status parameter extractor being configured to generate data indicative of a second duration between said third occurrence and at least one of said first occurrence and/or said second occurrence;
- said status parameter extractor being configured to generate data indicative of a temporal relation between
- said second duration, and
- said first duration;
- wherein
- said data indicative of a temporal relation is said first status value;
- said first status value;
- being indicative of a deviation of a current operating point from a best efficiency point of operation of said centrifugal pump.
A method of operating an analysis apparatus for monitoring an internal state of a centrifugal pump having a casing in which a rotatable impeller is disposed, the rotatable impeller having a first number of vanes for urging, when the rotatable impeller rotates, a fluid material from a pump inlet into a volute, thereby causing a fluid material pulsation having a repetition frequency dependent on a speed of rotation of the impeller;
- wherein said first number is higher than one;
- the method comprising
- receiving a vibration signal dependent on the fluid material pulsation;
- receiving a signal indicative of a rotational position of said rotatable impeller in relation to said casing;
- generating, by one or more hardware processors, based on said vibration signal and said position signal, a first status value indicative of an internal state of the centrifugal pump;
- detecting, by one or more hardware processors, a first occurrence of a first reference position signal value in a time sequence of position signal sample values indicative of a certain number of stationary reference positions per impeller revolution;
- said certain number being equal to said first number;
- detecting, by one or more hardware processors, a second occurrence of a second reference position signal value in said time sequence of position signal sample values;
- detecting, by one or more hardware processors, a third occurrence of an event signature in a time sequence of vibration sample values, said event signature being a vibration signal amplitude peak value indicative of a fluid pressure generated when the rotating impeller interacts with said fluid material;
- wherein said vibration signal amplitude peak value is repetitive with a first frequency of one vibration signal amplitude peak value per vane;
- said fluid material pulsation repetition frequency being equal to said first frequency;
- generating, by one or more hardware processors, data indicative of a first duration between said first occurrence and said second occurrence;
- and
- generating, by one or more hardware processors, data indicative of a second duration between said third occurrence and at least one of said first occurrence and/or said second occurrence;
- generating, by one or more hardware processors, data indicative of a temporal relation between
- said second duration, and
- said first duration;
- wherein
- said data indicative of a temporal relation is said first status value;
- said first status value being indicative of a deviation of a current operating point from a best efficiency point of operation of said centrifugal pump.
