Construction arrangement of an elevator and a method

A construction arrangement of an elevator, comprising:

• a hoistway;
• and
• a protection deck arranged within the hoistway for protecting a portion of the hoistway below the protection deck from falling objects,
• wherein the protection deck comprises
• a frame mounted on stationary structure of the hoistway, and
• a cover on the frame and extending across the hoistway, the cover being configured to protect the hoistway from at least one of the falling objects and water from falling into the hoistway below the cover,
• wherein the frame is configurable to be increased or decreased in size, individually in at least one direction in relation to corresponding adjacent parts of the stationary structure of the hoistway, without dismantling the frame,
• wherein the cover is configured to be increased or decreased in size together with the frame, such that the cover is configured to be increased or decreased in size based on the frame being increased or decreased in size, respectively, in the at least one direction in relation to the corresponding adjacent parts of the stationary structure of the hoistway,
• wherein the frame comprises
• frame beams that are connected to each other, and
• corner anchoring interfaces at respective longitudinal ends of neighboring frame beams from among the frame beams, the corner anchoring interfaces being configured to be detachably anchored to corners of the stationary structure of the hoistway, and
• wherein the protection deck comprises at least one pivotable bridge safety balustrade on one side or both sides of the frame, the at least one pivotable bridge safety balustrade being configured as a side frame of the protection deck when turned from a vertical position 90 degrees over the hoistway.

A method for constructing an elevator, the method comprising:

• mounting a protection deck within a hoistway for protecting a portion of the hoistway below the protection deck from falling objects,
• wherein the protection deck comprises
• a frame mounted on the stationary hoistway, and
• a cover on the frame and extending across the hoistway, the cover being configured to protect the hoistway from at least one of the falling objects and water from falling into the hoistway below the cover,
• wherein the frame comprises frame beams that are connected to each other, and the frame is configured to be increased or decreased in size, individually in at least one direction in relation to corresponding adjacent parts of the hoistway, without dismantling the frame,
• wherein the cover is configured to be increased or decreased in size together with the frame, such that the cover is configured to be increased or decreased in size based on the frame being increased or decreased in size, respectively, in the at least one direction in relation to the corresponding adjacent parts of the hoistway, and
• wherein the mounting the protection deck comprises attaching corner anchoring interfaces to interior corners of the hoistway, and attaching corner fixing elements at ends of the frame beams of the frame to the corner anchoring interfaces.
