Abstract
A computer-implemented method for use in determining a radiation dose distribution in a medical volume, includes: receiving a volumetric dataset representing the medical volume; performing a selection process of a rendering process for generating a visualization of the volumetric dataset to select at least one sample point in the volumetric dataset on which to perform a radiation determination process; and performing, for the at least one sample point in the volumetric dataset, the radiation dose determination process to determine a radiation dose at the at least one sample point. The method may also include visualizing the volumetric dataset and/or the radiation dose distribution.

A computer-implemented method for use in determining a radiation dose distribution in a medical volume, the computer-implemented method comprising:
- performing a selection process of a rendering process for generating a visualization of a volumetric dataset, the volumetric dataset including voxels, the selection process including selecting at least one sample point in the volumetric dataset on which to perform a radiation dose determination process, the selection process including sampling a path at intervals of one or more sample points per voxel, the one or more sample points being among the at least one sample point, the voxel being among the voxels, and the volumetric dataset representing the medical volume;
- and
- performing the radiation dose determination process to determine a radiation dose at each of the at least one sample point.
An apparatus for determining a radiation dose distribution in a medical volume, the apparatus comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- a storage device storing a set of machine-readable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to
- perform a selection process of a rendering process for generating a visualization of a volumetric dataset, the volumetric dataset including voxels, the selection process including selecting at least one sample point in the volumetric dataset on which to perform a radiation dose determination process, the selection process including sampling a path at intervals of one or more sample points per voxel, the one or more sample points being among the at least one sample point, the voxel being among the voxels, and the volumetric dataset representing the medical volume, and
- perform the radiation dose determination process to determine a radiation dose at each of the at least one sample point.
A computer-implemented method for use in determining and visualizing a radiation dose distribution in a medical volume, the computer-implemented method comprising:
- receiving a volumetric dataset representing the medical volume;
- performing a volume rendering process including
- performing a selection process to select one or more sample points in the volumetric dataset, and
- performing first operations for each respective sample point of the one or more sample points in the volumetric dataset, the first operations including
- determining a volume visualization parameter value based on a value of the volumetric dataset at the respective sample point,
- determining a radiation dose visualization parameter value based on a determined a radiation dose at the respective sample point, and
- determining a respective visual parameter value based on the radiation dose visualization parameter value and the volume visualization parameter value at the respective sample point;
- and
- rendering a visualization of the volumetric dataset and the radiation dose distribution using the respective visual parameter values of the one or more sample points.
