Abstract
Synthesis of ethyl ethyl-4-[2-(4-chlorophenyl)ethenyl]-2-(cyanoimino)-6-oxohexahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate and its use as an insecticidal agent.

A compound having the formula I:
An insecticidally acceptable composition comprising an insecticidally effective amount of ethyl-4-[2-(4-chlorophenyl)ethenyl]-2-(cyanoimino)-6-oxohexahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate compound having the formula I:
- and an insecticidally acceptable carrier.
A method of making an ethyl-4-[2-(4-chlorophenyl)ethenyl]-2-(cyanoimino)-6-oxohexahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate compound, the method comprising:
- combining cyanoguanidine, diethyl malonate, and sodium ethoxide to obtain a reaction mixture;
- treating the reaction mixture with 3-(4-chlorophenyl) acrylaldehyde to obtain ethyl-4-[2-(4-chlorophenyl)ethenyl]-2-(cyanoimino)-6-oxohexahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate.
