Abstract
The techniques described herein relate to computerized methods, systems and non-transitory computer-readable media for determining a plurality of regions of interest from an image of a scene for motion detection. The methods can include generating the regions of interest using image segmentation techniques and receiving user selection to designate one or more regions as motion detection zones. The methods can also automatically recommend motion detection zones. The methods can include subsequently capturing one or more images of a scene and performing motion detection in the one or more images of the scene using the designated motion detection zones.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- acquiring, by a camera, at least a first image of a field of view of the camera;
- determining, by the camera, first pixel data representing a first plurality of pixels of the first image and second pixel data representing a second plurality of pixels of the first image, the first plurality of pixels representative of a first region of the field of view and the second plurality of pixels representative of a second region of the field of view, the second region being different from the first region;
- determining, by the camera, the first region as a motion detection zone;
- and
- based at least in part on the first plurality of pixels being representative of the first region and the determination of the first region as a motion detection zone, sending the first pixel data, but not the second pixel data, to a remote computing system for processing to detect one or more first events within the first region.
A camera, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- one or more non-transitory computer-readable mediums encoded with instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the camera to:
- acquire at least a first image of a field of view of the camera;
- determine first pixel data representing a first plurality of pixels of the first image and second pixel data representing a second plurality of pixels of the first image, the first plurality of pixels representative of a first region of the field of view and the second plurality of pixels representative of a second region of the field of view, the second region being different from the first region;
- determine the first region as a motion detection zone;
- and
- based at least in part on the first plurality of pixels being representative of the first region and the determination that the first region as a motion detection zone, send the first pixel data, but not the second pixel data, to a remote computing system for processing to detect one or more first events within the first region.
A method, comprising:
- determining a plurality of different zones within a region of a first image acquired by a camera, the first image depicting a field of view of the camera;
- assigning a zone type to at least a first zone of the plurality;
- determining first and second data representative of first and second pluralities of pixels, respectively, of a second image acquired by the camera;
- determining that the first plurality of pixels represents at least some portion of the first zone;
- and
- based at least in part on the first plurality of pixels representing some portion of the first zone, sending the first data, but not the second data, to a remote computing system based on the zone type assigned to the first zone.
