Computer challenge systems based on image orientation matching

A computer system comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• a processing device, operatively coupled to the memory, to:
• sign information associated with a user computer system to generate signed information;
• send, to the user computer system, the signed information to cause the user computer system to send a request for access to a computer resource;
• generate, for a user computer system, a challenge data structure defining a challenge to select a correct image that conforms to one or more aspects of a challenge key from a plurality of images based on a relative orientation with respect to one another of elements within the plurality of images;
• send the challenge data structure to the user computer system to cause the challenge data structure to be presented to a user of the user computer system, wherein the challenge key comprises a first element and a second element and the correct image comprises a third element and a fourth element, wherein the first element corresponds to the third element and the second element corresponds to the fourth element, wherein the first element illustrates a particular shape and the third image illustrates the particular shape with a portion obscured, wherein the first element and the second element of the challenge key are illustrated in a two-dimensional perspective, and the third element and the fourth element of the correct image are a 2D rendering of a three-dimensional (3D) virtual object with properties that match the challenge data structure, wherein the challenge data structure further comprises challenge text that explicitly indicates a correspondence between the second element of the challenge key and the fourth element of the correct image and specifies that the second element and the fourth element are different shapes, and wherein the first element and the second element are presented as line-drawing icons and the third element and the fourth element are presented as a photorealistic rendering;
• obtain a user response representing at least one user-selected image from the plurality of images;
• and
• provide access to a computer resource for the user computer system based on whether the at least one user-selected image is consistent with the correct image.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium including instructions that, when executed by a processing device, cause the processing device to:

• sign information associated with a user computer system to generate signed information;
• send, to the user computer system, the signed information to cause the user computer system to send a request for access to a computer resource;
• generate, for a user computer system, a challenge data structure defining a challenge to select a correct image that conforms to one or more aspects of a challenge key from a plurality of images based on a relative orientation with respect to one another of elements within the plurality of images;
• send, by the processing device, the challenge data structure to the user computer system to cause the challenge data structure to be presented to a user of the user computer system, wherein the challenge key comprises a first element and a second element and the correct image comprises a third element and a fourth element, wherein the first element corresponds to the third element and the second element corresponds to the fourth element, wherein the first element illustrates a particular shape and the third image illustrates the particular shape with a portion obscured, wherein the first element and the second element of the challenge key are illustrated in a two-dimensional perspective, and the third element and the fourth element of the correct image are a 2D rendering of a three-dimensional (3D) virtual object with properties that match the challenge data structure, wherein the challenge data structure further comprises challenge text that explicitly indicates a correspondence between the second element of the challenge key and the fourth element of the correct image and specifies that the second element and the fourth element are different shapes, and wherein the first element and the second element are presented as line-drawing icons and the third element and the fourth element are presented as a photorealistic rendering;
• obtain a user response representing at least one user-selected image from the plurality of images;
• and
• provide access to a computer resource for the user computer system based on whether the at least one user-selected image is consistent with the correct image.
