A method for preventing or treating chronic kidney disease, the method comprising administering a pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound represented by the following Chemical Formula 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to a subject in need thereof:

• wherein,
• L1 is a single bond or
• R1 and R2 are each —H, —OH, a C1-10 straight or branched alkyl, or a C6-8 arylamide, wherein the aryl of the arylamide is optionally substituted with one or more of a halogen, —NO2 and a C1-10 straight or branched alkyl halide;
• R1 and R2 optionally form a C6-8 aryl with a carbon atom to which they are linked;
• and
• R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 are each —H, a halogen, —NO2 or a C1-10 straight or branched alkyl.
