Abstract
A computer-implemented method mitigates side channel attacks in cache memory. The method includes: loading data into a cache line of the cache memory, which includes marking the data as sensitive in metadata of the cache line based on the data being tagged as sensitive; tracking interactions with the data; and determining whether the interactions with the data are not normal based on a preset criteria and the tracked interactions with the data.
Claims19
A computer-implemented method for mitigating side channel attacks in cache memory, the method comprising:
- loading data into a cache line of the cache memory, which comprises marking the data as sensitive in metadata of the cache line in a case that the data is tagged as sensitive;
- tracking interactions with the data marked as sensitive in the cache memory without using another memory area for the tracking;
- and
- determining whether the interactions with the data are not normal based on a preset criteria and the tracked interactions with the data.
A processing system comprising one or more hardware processors which, alone or in combination, are configured to provide for execution of a method for mitigating side channel attacks in cache memory, the method comprising:
- loading data into a cache line of the cache memory, which comprises marking the data as sensitive in metadata of the cache line in a case that the data is tagged as sensitive;
- tracking interactions with the data marked as sensitive in the cache memory without using another memory area for the tracking;
- and
- determining whether the interactions with the data are not normal based on a preset criteria and the tracked interactions with the data.
A tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions thereon which, upon execution by one or more hardware processors, alone or in combination, provide for execution of a method for mitigating side channel attacks in cache memory, the method comprising:
- loading data into a cache line of the cache memory, which comprises marking the data as sensitive in metadata of the cache line in a case that the data is tagged as sensitive;
- tracking interactions with the data marked as sensitive in the cache memory without using another memory area for the tracking;
- and
- determining whether the interactions with the data are not normal based on a preset criteria and the tracked interactions with the data.
