Vehicle sensor verification and calibration

A system, comprising:

• a communication interface configured to wirelessly communicate with a plurality of vehicles configured to operate in an environment, wherein each vehicle of the plurality of vehicles comprises one or more sensors;
• one or more processors;
• data storage, wherein the data storage stores target data and program instructions, wherein the target data comprises information regarding a plurality of targets in the environment, wherein the program instructions are executable by the one or more processors to cause the system to perform operations, the operations comprising:
• receiving sensor data via the communication interface, wherein the sensor data comprises data collected by a first sensor of a first vehicle of the plurality of vehicles during a scan of a particular target of the plurality of targets;
• associating the sensor data with an environmental condition, wherein the environmental condition affects at least a maximum scanning range of the first sensor;
• comparing the sensor data to previously-collected sensor data relating to the particular target;
• detecting a change in a scanning characteristic of the first sensor based on the comparison;
• and
• adjusting a calibration parameter or operation parameter of the first sensor based on the change in the scanning characteristic of the first sensor, wherein adjusting the calibration parameter or operation parameter for the first sensor comprises communicating with the first vehicle via wireless signals to provide environment-specific calibration data that can be applied when the environmental condition occurs in the future.
