Dual pouch with tear-away label

A method of opening a food package, the method comprising:

• providing a food package, the food package comprising:
• a first pouch defining a first compartment and including a notch along a peripheral edge at an upper region of the first pouch;
• a second pouch defining a second compartment;
• and
• a retaining sheet that removably secures the second pouch at an outer surface of the first pouch, the retaining sheet comprising:
• a first portion adhered to the outer surface of the first pouch along the upper region of the first pouch;
• a second portion adhered to the outer surface of the first pouch along a lower region of the first pouch;
• a third portion disposed between the first portion and the second portion that engages the second pouch to secure the second pouch between the retaining sheet and the outer surface of the first pouch;
• and
• a first perforated region connecting the first portion and the third portion;
• tearing the first pouch from the notch and along a tear line of the first pouch across the upper region of the first pouch, whereby tearing the first pouch opens the first pouch to provide access to the first compartment;
• and
• while tearing the first pouch along the tear line, separating the third portion of the retaining sheet from the first portion of the retaining sheet along the first perforated region to at least partially release the second pouch from the outer surface of the first pouch.
