Abstract
A system for sound localization can include a first electronic device having a microphone to detect a sound, and a second electronic device. A processor can be in communication with the first electronic device and the second electronic device. The processor can receive a first signal from the first electronic device corresponding to the detected sound, determine a location of origin of the detected sound based at least in part on the first signal, and provide a second signal to the second electronic device based at least in part on the location of origin.
Claims19
A system for sound localization, the system comprising:
- a movable electronic device comprising a microphone configured to detect a sound;
- and
- a processor in communication with the electronic device, the processor configured to:
- receive a three-dimensional (3D) geometry of a space from a sensor;
- build a model of the space a based on the 3D geometry;
- characterize objects in the space as fixed or movable in the model based on the 3D geometry;
- and
- determine a location of origin in the space of the sound detected by the microphone based on the model.
A method comprising:
- receiving, from a sensor, a layout of a space and objects disposed within the space;
- generating a model of the space and the objects;
- characterizing the objects as fixed or movable objects;
- detecting, using a microphone, a sound in the space;
- determining an origination location of the sound in the space based on the model;
- and
- moving the sensor closer to the origination location.
A system comprising an electronic device, the electronic device comprising:
- a sensor configured to detect a configuration of a room;
- a microphone configured to detect a sound;
- and
- a processor in communication with the sensor and the microphone, the processor configured to:
- receive a microphone signal from the microphone corresponding to the sound detected by the microphone;
- receive a sensor signal from the sensor corresponding to the configuration of the room detected by the sensor;
- determine a layout of the room and objects present in the room based on the sensor signal;
- per object, classify the object as stationary or mobile;
- and
- determine a location of origin of the sound based on the microphone signal and the determined layout of the room and objects present in the room.
