Field repair recalibration

A method in a device for calibrating a sensor associated with a display, the method comprising:

• obtaining pre-repair samples generated by the sensor;
• after repair or replacement of the display, determining whether the display was damaged in an area of the sensor;
• and
• in response to the determination that the display was not damaged in an area of the sensor, performing the sensor-based field calibration of the sensor.

A device, comprising:

• a processor;
• a memory device that stores program code structured to cause the processor to:
• obtain pre-repair samples generated by a sensor;
• after repair or replacement of the display, determine whether ambient lighting changed since obtaining the pre-repair samples;
• and
• at least in response to a determination that ambient light did not change since obtaining the pre-repair samples, perform sensor-based field calibration of the sensor.
