Alkaline electrodes with electrolyte reservoirs

An electrochemical cell comprising:

• a container;
• a first electrode disposed within the container, wherein the first electrode comprises;
• a first electrode portion defining a concentric inner surface of the first electrode;
• and
• at least one open space defining at least one reservoir within the first electrode;
• and
• wherein the at least one reservoir is bounded at least in part by a first reservoir wall of the first electrode portion and a second reservoir wall of a second electrode portion defining a concentric outer surface of the first electrode portion, wherein the at least one reservoir is located between the first reservoir wall of the first electrode portion and the second reservoir wall of the second electrode portion;
• a second electrode disposed within the container;
• a separator disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode;
• and
• an electrolyte solution permeating the first electrode and the second electrode and at least partially filling the at least one reservoir.

An electrochemical cell comprising:

• a container;
• a first electrode disposed within the container, wherein the first electrode comprises;
• a first electrode portion;
• and
• a second electrode portion conductively connected with the first electrode portion and spaced apart from the first electrode portion to define at least one reservoir between the first electrode portion and the second electrode portion;
• wherein the at least one reservoir is bounded at least in part by a first reservoir wall of the first electrode portion and a second reservoir wall of the second electrode portion;
• and
• a third electrode portion comprising one or more conductive disks that conductively connects the first electrode portion and the second electrode portion;
• a second electrode disposed within the container;
• a separator disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode;
• and
• an electrolyte solution permeating the first electrode and the second electrode and at least partially filling the at least one reservoir.
