Abstract
Embodiments describe a method of controlling a two-stroke internal combustion engine. A method of controlling a two-stroke internal combustion engine includes determining a base nominal exhaust gas temperature, determining a base barometric pressure correction to base nominal exhaust gas temperature, determining exhaust gas temperature differential, determining exhaust gas temperature injection correction, and utilizing the exhaust gas temperature injection correction to make a final short-term fuel or ignition correction.
Claims20
A method of controlling a two-stroke internal combustion engine, the method comprising:
- determining a base nominal exhaust gas temperature using a measured exhaust valve position;
- determining a base barometric pressure correction to the base nominal exhaust gas temperature using a measured barometric pressure;
- calculating a current exhaust gas temperature based on the base barometric pressure correction to the base nominal exhaust gas temperature;
- determining an exhaust gas temperature differential by comparing the current exhaust gas temperature to the base nominal exhaust gas temperature;
- and
- implementing a fuel correction using the exhaust gas temperature differential,
- wherein the fuel correction controls a fuel injection amount in the two-stroke internal combustion engine.
