Method and system for utilizing vehicle odometer values and dynamic compliance

A method for determining a milage of a vehicle, the method comprising:

• receiving at a connected vehicle device (CVD) a plurality of odometer values from a plurality of odometer components of the vehicle, the CVD comprising a processor and a radio, the CVD in communication with an on-board computer of the vehicle;
• generating a delta value for an odometer value relative to a control odometer value at the CVD;
• monitoring at the CVD the plurality of odometer components;
• modifying the odometer value for one of the plurality of odometer components by a delta value to generate a new odometer value;
• and
• determining the milage of the vehicle based on the new odometer value.

A method for determining a milage of a vehicle, the method comprising:

• collecting at an on-board computer of the vehicle a plurality of odometer values from a plurality of odometer components of the vehicle;
• generating on the vehicle a delta value for an odometer value relative to a control odometer value;
• monitoring on the vehicle the plurality of odometer components;
• modifying the odometer value for one of the plurality of odometer components by a delta value to generate a new odometer value;
• and
• determining the milage of the vehicle based on the new odometer value.
