Abstract
A method for operating a grinding device includes grinding of a surface of the workpiece with at least one grinding medium. Actual data is recorded on a data collection device during grinding with the at least one grinding medium. The actual data is then compared with target data stored in an electronic memory in an electronic data processing device. From this comparison, a determination is made of the exchange time at which the at least one grinding medium is to be changed.

A method for operating a grinding device, comprising the steps:
- grinding of a surface of a workpiece with a grinding unit comprising at least two deflection rollers and at least one exchangeable grinding medium deflected by said at least two deflection rollers,
- recording actual data related to the at least one grinding medium during the grinding step with at least one data collection device, wherein the actual data comprises data from the at least one grinding medium, wherein the actual data includes values which include a color of the at least one grinding medium,
- comparing the actual data by an electronic data processing device with target data stored in an electronic memory,
- determining an exchange time at which the at least one grinding medium is changed based on results of the comparing step, and
- adjusting at least one grinding parameter when a difference between the actual data and the target data is above a predetermined limit, wherein the at least one grinding parameter is switching on an additional grinding unit.

- determining an exchange time at which the at least one grinding medium is changed based on the comparing step,
- adjusting at least one grinding parameter when a difference between the actual data and the target data is above a predetermined limit, wherein the at least one grinding parameter is switching on an additional grinding unit.
