Claims21
A method for sending electronic mail, comprising:
- receiving, at a remote service from a mail server, a request for sending an email to a destination;
- responsive to receiving the request, selecting, at the remote service, a source IP address based on information associated with the received request;
- determining, at the remote service, a port identifier associated with the selected source IP address;
- determining, at the remote service, a source hostname based on the determined port identifier;
- providing the determined port identifier to the mail server;
- receiving, at the remote service and from the mail server, one or more first communications on a first destination port associated with the determined port identifier, the one or more first communications comprising the determined source hostname;
- and
- sending, from the remote service, one or more second communications externally to the destination from the selected source IP address, the one or more second communications utilizing a standard destination port identifier in place of the first destination port, wherein the selected source IP address is used to send the one or more second communications based on the determined port identifier associated with the first communications.

A non-transitory computer readable medium, comprising instructions for:
- receiving, at a remote service from a mail server, a request for sending an email to a destination;
- responsive to receiving the request, selecting, at the remote service, a source IP address based on information associated with the received request;
- determining, at the remote service, a port identifier associated with the selected source IP address;
- determining, at the remote service, a source hostname based on the determined port identifier;
- providing the determined port identifier to the mail server;
- receiving, at the remote service and from the mail server, one or more first communications on a first destination port associated with the determined port identifier, the one or more first communications comprising the determined source hostname;
- and
- sending, from the remote service, one or more second communications externally to the destination from the selected source IP address, the one or more second communications utilizing a standard destination port identifier in place of the first destination port, wherein the selected source IP address is used to send the one or more second communications based on the determined port identifier associated with the first communications.
