Abstract
The present invention relates to Mitochondrial Fission Factor (MFF)-derived peptides or peptide mimetics and to methods of making MFF-derived peptides or peptide mimetics. Also provided are methods of treating a disease in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a MFF-derived peptide or peptide mimetic.
Claims31
A peptide having MFF-VDAC1 disrupting activity, comprising the sequence of:
- SEQ ID NO:
- 8, wherein the peptide is 30 amino acids in length;
- SEQ ID NO:
- 11, wherein the peptide is 27 amino acids in length;
- SEQ ID NO:
- 12, wherein the peptide is 24 amino acids in length;
- SEQ ID NO:
- 16, wherein the peptide is 27 amino acids in length;
- or
- SEQ ID NO:
- 21, wherein the peptide is 21 amino acids in length.
A peptide comprising a first amino acid sequence and a second amino acid sequence, wherein the first amino acid sequence is an MFF derived peptide of no more than 30 amino acids in length, having the sequence set forth in any one of SEQ ID NOs:
- 1-23;
- and wherein the second amino acid sequence is a cell-penetrating amino acid sequence.
