Abstract
A novel sorghum variety designated 2PLYR98A and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are provided. Methods for producing a plant comprise crossing sorghum variety 2PLYR98A with another plant. Sorghum seed, plants and plant parts produced by crossing sorghum variety 2PLYR98A with another plant are described. Methods for producing a plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into 2PLYR98A include one or both of backcross conversion and transformation. Hybrid sorghum seed, plants or plant parts produced by crossing the sorghum variety 2PLYR98A or a locus conversion of 2PLYR98A with another sorghum variety are disclosed.
Claims20
A seed of sorghum variety 2PLYR98A, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under NCMA Accession Number 202510059.
A method of plant breeding, the method comprising:
- (a) crossing a plant of sorghum variety 2PLYR98A with a second plant comprising a desired single locus to produce F1 progeny plants, representative seed of said sorghum variety 2PLYR98A having been deposited under NCMA Accession Number 202510059;
- (b) selecting at least a first progeny plant from step (a) that comprises the single locus to produce a selected progeny plant;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plant from step (b) with a plant of sorghum variety 2PLYR98A to produce a backcross progeny plant that comprises the single locus.
A plant, non-seed plant part, seed, or plant cell of sorghum variety 2PLYR98A, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under NCMA Accession Number 202510059, the plant, non-seed plant part, seed, or plant cell further comprising a single locus conversion, wherein the single locus conversion is introduced into sorghum variety 2PLYR98A by backcrossing or transformation, and wherein the plant or a plant grown from the plant part, seed or plant cell otherwise comprises all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of sorghum variety 2PLYR98A when grown under the same environmental conditions.
