Abstract
A method for handling a fluid includes separating the fluid into a liquid and a vapor within a container such that at least a portion of the vapor is disposed above the liquid, detecting a level of the liquid in the container, and actuating at least one valve to exhaust the vapor from the container to maintain the level of the liquid at or above a desired level. The at least one valve is communicatively coupled to a controller. The method further includes sending a signal from the at least one valve to the controller, and determining diagnostic data based at least in part on the signal.
Claims20
A method for handling a fluid comprising:
- separating the fluid into a liquid and a vapor within a container such that at least a portion of the vapor is disposed above the liquid;
- detecting a level of the liquid in the container;
- actuating at least one valve to exhaust the vapor from the container to maintain the level of the liquid at or above a desired level, wherein the at least one valve is communicatively coupled to a controller;
- sending a signal from the at least one valve to the controller;
- and
- determining diagnostic data based at least in part on the signal.
A system comprising:
- a container defining an interior space for holding a fluid, the fluid including vapor, liquid, and a solid material;
- an inlet port for the fluid to enter the interior space;
- an outlet port for the liquid to exit the interior space;
- and
- a separator disposed within the interior space and configured to control a velocity of the fluid flowing between the inlet port and the outlet port such that the vapor is separated from and at least partially disposed above the liquid, and the solid material is separated from and disposed at least partially below the liquid.
A method of removing material from a fluid using a filtering system including a container defining an interior space, the method comprising:
- directing fluid into the interior space of the container through an inlet port, the fluid including vapor, liquid, and a solid material;
- generating fluid flow within the interior space from the inlet port to an outlet port;
- controlling a velocity of the fluid flowing within the interior space using a separator such that the vapor is separated from and at least partially disposed above the liquid and the solid material is separated from and disposed at least partially below the liquid;
- and
- discharging the liquid from the interior space through the outlet port.
