Abstract
Disclosed are techniques for communication. In an aspect, an apparatus determines, based on one or more criteria, to use a non-ray tracing channel model, instead of a ray-tracing-based channel model, to model a wireless channel profile between a user equipment (UE) and one or more network nodes, and performs one or more positioning operations associated with the UE and the one or more network nodes based on the wireless channel profile between the UE and the one or more network nodes modeled by the non-ray tracing channel model.

An apparatus, comprising:
- one or more memories;
- and
- one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories, the one or more processors, either alone or in combination, configured to:
- determine, based on one or more criteria, to use a non-ray tracing channel model, instead of a ray-tracing-based channel model, to model a wireless channel profile between a user equipment (UE) and one or more network nodes;
- and
- perform one or more positioning operations associated with the UE and the one or more network nodes based on the wireless channel profile between the UE and the one or more network nodes modeled by the non-ray tracing channel model.
A method of communication performed by an apparatus, comprising:
- determining, based on one or more criteria, to use a non-ray tracing channel model, instead of a ray-tracing-based channel model, to model a wireless channel profile between a user equipment (UE) and one or more network nodes;
- and
- performing one or more positioning operations associated with the UE and the one or more network nodes based on the wireless channel profile between the UE and the one or more network nodes modeled by the non-ray tracing channel model.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by an apparatus, cause the apparatus to:
- determine, based on one or more criteria, to use a non-ray tracing channel model, instead of a ray-tracing-based channel model, to model a wireless channel profile between a user equipment (UE) and one or more network nodes;
- and
- perform one or more positioning operations associated with the UE and the one or more network nodes based on the wireless channel profile between the UE and the one or more network nodes modeled by the non-ray tracing channel model.
