Abstract
Embodiments are described herein that involve receiving, by a social-media computing system from a media playback system, playback data indicating media that is being played back by the media playback system, where the playback data comprises an indication of at least one zone of the media playback system in which the media is being played back; and based on the received playback data, updating social-media data in a social-media account, where the updated social-media data comprises an indication of the at least one zone in which the media is currently being played back.
Claims20
A computing system comprising:
- at least one processor;
- at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising program instructions that are executable by the at least one processor such that the computing system is configured to:
- receive playback data indicating a media content item currently played back by a media playback system registered with a computing system account associated with a user profile, wherein the user profile indicates at least one artist associated with the computing system account;
- identify a correlation between the playback data and information associated with the at least one artist indicated in the user profile;
- based on the correlation, determine one or more advertisements related to:
- (i) the media content item currently being played back;
- (ii) the at least one artist indicated in the user profile;
- and (iii) current playback configuration information of the media playback system, wherein the media playback system comprises at least one first playback device in a first playback zone and at least one second playback device in a second playback zone;
- transmit data corresponding to the one or more advertisements to a user device registered with the computing system account;
- determine that the current playback configuration information indicates that at least two playback devices of the media playback system are playing back the media content item in synchrony;
- and
- when the current playback configuration information indicates that the media playback system is playing back the media content item in at least the first playback zone, cause the user device to display the one or more advertisements on a visual representation of the computing system account, wherein the one or more advertisements are related to the first playback zone.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon program instructions executable by one or more processors to cause a computing system to perform functions comprising:
- receiving playback data indicating a media content item currently played back by a media playback system registered with a computing system account associated with a user profile, wherein the user profile indicates at least one artist associated with the computing system account;
- identifying a correlation between the playback data and information associated with the at least one artist indicated in the user profile;
- based on the correlation, determining one or more advertisements related to:
- (i) the media content item currently being played back;
- (ii) the at least one artist indicated in the user profile;
- and (iii) current playback configuration information of the media playback system, wherein the media playback system comprises at least one first playback device in a first playback zone and at least one second playback device in a second playback zone;
- transmitting data corresponding to the one or more advertisements to a user device registered with the computing system account;
- determining that the current playback configuration information indicates that at least two playback devices of the media playback system are playing back the media content item in synchrony;
- and
- when the current playback configuration information indicates that the media playback system is playing back the media content item in at least the first playback zone, causing the user device to display the one or more advertisements on a visual representation of the computing system account, wherein the one or more advertisements are related to the first playback zone.

A method to be performed by a computing system, the method comprising:
- receiving playback data indicating a media content item currently played back by a media playback system registered with a computing system account associated with a user profile, wherein the user profile indicates at least one artist associated with the computing system account;
