Apparatus for secured communication between control devices in a vehicle, electronic processing unit, and vehicle

An apparatus for secured communication between control units in a vehicle (20), the apparatus comprising:

• control units in a first part of a wired vehicle bus system that are each equipped with at least one communication interface, via which the control units are connected to the first part of a wired vehicle bus system (B1) for the purpose of exchanging messages,
• wherein a secured control unit is connected to the vehicle bus system (B1) via at least one first communication interface,
• wherein the secured control unit has at least one second communication interface,
• wherein a separate part of the vehicle bus system (B1′) is connected to the at least one second communication interface,
• wherein at least one further control unit is connected in the separate part of the vehicle bus system, and
• wherein the secured control unit has a gateway function (GWF) and security equipment (SE) that fulfills at least the function of a firewall (FW) that wards off attacks from the first part of the vehicle bus system (B1) on the at least one further control unit disposed in the separate part of the vehicle bus system (B1′);
• wherein the at least one first communication interface of the secured control unit is a secured CAN bus communication interface that wards off attacks by introduced messages from a manipulated control unit of the control units in the first part of the vehicle bus system;
• wherein the wired vehicle bus system (B1) is a CAN bus system, corresponding to a Controller Area Network, according to the SAE J1939 standard;
• wherein the at least one communication interface of the control units in the first part of the vehicle bus system (B1) include a secured CAN bus communication interface, wherein the secured CAN bus communication interface is designed in such a way that it wards off attacks caused by introduced messages from a manipulated control unit of the control units in the first part of the vehicle bus system (B1).
