Abstract
Disclosed herein are methods and kits to assess an absorbed dose of ionizing radiation and/or the severity of tissue injury from radiation in a patient. Also disclosed are algorithms used to calculate an absorbed dose of radiation based on biomarker measurements of a plurality of biomarkers that are altered relative to a normal control in the event of radiation exposure.

A multiplexed assay kit for assessing an absorbed dose of ionizing radiation or radiation-induced tissue injury in a sample from a human subject, wherein the kit comprises detectable binding reagents that bind to a plurality of biomarkers in the sample, wherein the detectable binding reagents comprise a capture antibody and a detection antibody that binds to each biomarker in the plurality of biomarkers and wherein the plurality of biomarkers comprises salivary alpha-amylase, CD5, CD20, and Flt-3L.
