Walk test for fire alarm systems using a mobile device

A fire alarm system monitoring mobile device, comprising:

• a fire alarm system control application resident on the mobile device, wherein the fire alarm system control application allows for selection of a loop of fire alarm system devices to activate a test mode of the loop of fire alarm system devices, wherein the loop is a subsystem of interconnected fire alarm system devices;
• a database accessible via the fire alarm system control application;
• a search utility within the fire alarm system control application, such that the search utility searches the database to identify a particular fire alarm system device from the loop of fire alarm system devices;
• and
• a graphical user interface of the fire alarm system control application on the mobile device, wherein the graphical user interface includes:
• a number of icons, each icon representing one of the fire alarm system devices within the selected loop;
• a number of functional buttons to initiate a response on each of the selected fire alarm system devices of the loop;
• and
• information about a particular fire alarm system device among the loop of fire alarm system devices that a technician is being directed to as part of a test procedure carried out by the technician.

A fire alarm monitoring system, comprising:

• a fire alarm system having a plurality of fire alarm system devices;
• a mobile device that is in communication with the fire alarm system, the mobile device having a fire alarm system control application resident thereon, wherein the fire alarm system control application allows for selection of a loop of fire alarm system devices among the plurality of fire alarm system devices to activate a test mode of the loop of fire alarm system devices, and wherein the loop is a subsystem of interconnected fire alarm system devices;
• a database accessible via the fire alarm system control application;
• a search utility within the fire alarm system control application, such that the search utility searches the database to identify a particular fire alarm system device from the loop of fire alarm system devices;
• and
• a graphical user interface of the fire alarm system control application on the mobile device, wherein the graphical user interface includes:
• a number of icons, each icon representing one of the fire alarm system devices within the selected loop;
• a number of functional buttons to initiate a response on each of the selected fire alarm system devices of the loop;
• and
• information about a particular fire alarm system device among the loop of fire alarm system devices that a technician is being directed to as part of a test procedure carried out by the technician.
