Abstract
An optoelectronic code reader for reading optical codes has at least one light reception element for generating image data from received light and a control and evaluation unit that is configured to segment the image data to locate regions of interest having assumed optical codes, and to further process the regions of interest by a decoding process to read the code content of an optical code in the region of interest. The control and evaluation unit is further configured to recognize a label in the image data and to process a region of interest differently by the decoding process when the region of interest is part of a label than when the region of interest is not part of a label.
Claims19
An optoelectronic code reader for reading optical codes, comprising:
- at least one light reception element for generating image data from received light;
- and
- a control and evaluation unit that is configured to:
- segment the image data to locate regions of interest having assumed optical codes;
- process the regions of interest by a decoding process to read code content of an optical code in the region of interest;
- recognize a label in the image data;
- and
- distinguish between ones of the regions of interest which are part of the label from ones of the regions of interest which are not part of the label, wherein the ones of the regions of interest which are part of the label are processed differently by the decoding process than the ones of the regions of interest which are not part of the label.
A method of reading optical codes, comprising:
- generating image data from received light;
- segmenting the image data to locate regions of interest having assumed optical codes;
- processing the regions of interest by a decoding process to read code content of an optical code in the region of interest;
- recognizing a label;
- and
- distinguishing between ones of the regions of interest which are part of the label from ones of the regions of interest which are not part of the label, wherein the ones of the regions of interest which are part of the label are processed differently by the decoding process than the ones of the regions of interest which are not part of the label.
