Information processing apparatus capable of displaying a print setting screen, control method, and storage medium therefor

An information processing apparatus storing a print setting application for displaying a print setting screen, the information processing apparatus comprising at least one processor operating to:

• obtain capability information of a printing device and print method information of the printing device, the capability information including first information and second information, the first information being information regarding at least one function supported by an IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) Class Driver of an operating system of the information processing apparatus, the second information being information regarding at least one function not supported by the IPP Class Driver, the print setting application cooperating with the IPP Class Driver;
• obtaining, in a case where the print method information indicates that the printing device is an inkjet printer, media-col-database from the printing device;
• generate, in a case where the print method information indicates that the printing device is the inkjet printer, a conflict list based on the obtained media-col-database;
• obtain a print setting made via another print setting screen provided by software different from the print setting application, the obtaining being performed in response to a user instruction for displaying the print setting screen for managing at least one print setting corresponding to the second information, and the user instruction being executed via the another print setting screen for managing at least one print setting corresponding to the first information;
• determine, in a case where the print method information indicates that the printing device is the inkjet printer, whether the obtained print setting includes a combination of setting values listed in the conflict list;
• determining, in a case where the print method information indicates that the printing device is a laser beam printer, whether the obtained print setting includes a second combination of setting values matching conflict information preliminarily set in the print setting application;
• changing the print setting in a case where it is determined that the print setting includes the first combination of setting values or the second combination of setting values;
• and
• displaying the print setting screen, the changed setting values being set in the print setting screen.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a print setting application for displaying a print setting screen, the print setting application cause an information processing apparatus to perform a control method comprising:

• obtaining capability information of a printing device and print method information of the printing device, the capability information including first information and second information, the first information being information regarding at least one function supported by an IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) Class Driver of an operating system of the information processing apparatus, the second information being information regarding at least one function not supported by the IPP Class Driver, the print setting application cooperating with the IPP Class Driver;
• obtaining, in a case where the print method information indicates that the printing device is an inkjet printer, media-col-database from the printing device;
• generating, in a case where the print method information indicates that the printing device is the inkjet printer, a conflict list based on the obtained media-col-database;
• obtaining a print setting made via another print setting screen provided by software different from the print setting application, the obtaining being performed in response to a user instruction for displaying the print setting screen for managing at least one print setting corresponding to the second information, and the user instruction being executed via the another print setting screen for managing at least one print setting corresponding to the first information;
• determining, in a case where the print method information indicates that the printing device is the inkjet printer, whether the obtained print setting includes a combination of setting values listed in the conflict list;
• determining, in a case where the print method information indicates that the printing device is a laser beam printer, whether the obtained print setting includes a second combination of setting values matching conflict information preliminarily set in the print setting application;
• changing the print setting in a case where it is determined that the first print setting includes the combination of setting values or the second combination of setting values;
• and
• displaying the print setting screen, the changed setting values being set in the print setting screen.
