Clothing treatment apparatus

A laundry treating apparatus comprising:

• a drum including a drum body defining a laundry space configured to store laundry therein, a front cover defining a front surface of the drum body, and a rear cover defining a rear surface of the drum body, wherein the front cover defines a drum inlet extending through the front cover, and the rear cover defines a rear cover through-hole extending through the rear cover;
• a motor including a stator configured to generate a rotating magnetic field, and a rotor configured to be rotated by the rotating magnetic field;
• a fixed panel located between the rear cover and the motor, the fixed panel defining a fixed panel through-hole extending through the fixed panel;
• a power transmitter including:
• a housing fixed to the fixed panel and where the stator is fixed,
• an input shaft having a first end fixed to the rotor and a second end located inside the housing,
• an output shaft having a first end inserted into the fixed panel through-hole and a second end located inside the housing, and
• a gear unit located inside the housing and configured to transmit a rotating motion of the input shaft to the output shaft;
• a shaft fastening portion that is fixed to the rear cover and closes the rear cover through-hole, the shaft fastening portion defining a fastening portion through-hole extending through the shaft fastening portion and receiving the first end of the output shaft inserted thereinto;
• a nut coupled to the first end of the output shaft that has passed through the fastening portion through-hole, the nut fixing the output shaft to the shaft fastening portion;
• and
• a fastening portion cover that is located inside the drum and closes the rear cover through-hole,
• wherein the nut is disposed in a covered space isolated from the laundry space, and
• wherein the nut is provided between the fastening portion cover and the shaft fastening portion and is configured to maintain a gap between the fastening portion cover and the shaft fastening portion.
