Abstract
An electrified fire fighting vehicle includes a chassis having a pair of frame rails, a cab coupled to the chassis, a body coupled to the chassis rearward of the cab, an electric motor positioned between the pair of frame rails, an energy storage system positioned between the cab and the body, and a covering. The energy storage system includes a power cable coupled to the electric motor. The covering extends across the pair of frame rails and over at least a portion of the electric motor such that the power cable is positioned underneath the covering.
Claims18
An electrified fire fighting vehicle comprising:
- a chassis having a pair of frame rails;
- a cab coupled to the chassis;
- a body coupled to the chassis rearward of the cab;
- an electric motor positioned between the pair of frame rails;
- an energy storage system positioned between the cab and the body, the energy storage system including a power cable coupled to the electric motor;
- and
- a covering extending across the pair of frame rails and over at least a portion of the electric motor such that the power cable is positioned underneath the covering.
An electrified vehicle comprising:
- a chassis having a pair of frame rails;
- a cab coupled to the chassis;
- a body coupled to the chassis rearward of the cab;
- an electric motor positioned between the pair of frame rails;
- an energy storage system including a power cable coupled to the electric motor;
- and
- a covering including a first cross-member and a second cross-member substantially flush with each other and collectively providing a platform upon which a person can stand, the covering extending across the pair of frame rails and over at least a portion of the electric motor such that the power cable is positioned underneath the covering.
An electrified vehicle comprising:
- a chassis having a pair of frame rails;
- an electric motor positioned between the pair of frame rails;
- an energy storage system including:
- a housing coupled to the chassis, the housing defining a channel positioned proximate a lower edge thereof;
- a battery pack disposed within the housing;
- and
- a power distribution system disposed within the housing and electrically coupled to the battery pack;
- a covering extending across the pair of frame rails proximate the housing and over at least a portion of the electric motor, the covering including:
- a first cross-member coupled to and at least partially supporting the electric motor between the pair of frame rails;
- and
- a second cross-member positioned between the housing and the first cross-member;
- wherein upper surfaces of the first cross-member and the second cross-member are substantially flush;
- and
- wherein the first cross-member and the second cross-member collectively provide a platform upon which a person can stand;
- and
- a power cable extending from the power distribution system, through the channel, between the covering and an exterior housing of the electric motor, to a connection interface of the electric motor.
