Abstract
Vaporizer cartridges and vaporizer apparatuses, and methods for making, using and delivering vapor to a user, that are leak-resistant for use with cannabinoids. In particular, described herein are leak-resistant vaporizer cartridges and apparatuses adapted for use with oil-based vaporizable materials including cannabis oils.
Claims18
A vaporizer device comprising:
- a vaporizer cartridge;
- and
- a vaporizer body;
- wherein the vaporizer cartridge comprises:
- a cartridge body comprising a proximal end and a distal end opposite the proximal end;
- a mouthpiece coupled to the proximal end, wherein the mouthpiece comprises an outlet;
- a reservoir comprising an internal volume at least partially defined by the cartridge body, wherein the internal volume is configured to hold a vaporizable material;
- at least one reservoir seal configured to cover at least one reservoir opening exposing the internal volume of the reservoir;
- a bottom cover comprising a bottom portion positioned distally relative to the cartridge body;
- a first cartridge electrical contact configured to contact a first body electrical contact on a vaporizer body;
- a second cartridge electrical contact configured to contact a second body electrical contact on the vaporizer body;
- and
- a vaporization chamber comprising:
- a heating element configured to heat the vaporizable material from the reservoir to generate an aerosol;
- a wicking material;
- a housing piece configured to house at least a portion of the wicking material;
- and
- a tube configured to deliver the aerosol to the mouthpiece;
- wherein the vaporizer body comprises:
- a cartridge receiver configured to insertably receive the vaporizer cartridge, wherein the cartridge receiver comprises:
- a first body electrical contact configured to electrically couple to the first cartridge electrical contact of the vaporizer cartridge,
- a second body electrical contact configured to electrically couple to the second cartridge electrical contact of the vaporizer cartridge,
- an insertion end into which the vaporizer cartridge is inserted, and
- a base opposite the insertion end.

A vaporizer device comprising:
- a reservoir to contain a vaporizable material;
- a mouthpiece configured to deliver an aerosol comprising the vaporizable material;
- a tube defining at least a portion of an air flow path:
- a heating element configured to heat and cause vaporization of the vaporizable material into air drawn into the vaporizer device along the air flow path, thereby forming the aerosol, the air flow path connecting an air inlet from which air from outside the vaporizer device enters the vaporizer device and the mouthpiece, the air flow path passing proximate to the heating element and extending through the mouthpiece;
- and at least one pad positioned within the mouthpiece,
- wherein the at least one pad is positioned outside of the tube, the at least one pad disposed on one side of the mouthpiece, and
- wherein the at least one pad is positioned off-axis relative to the air flow path such that the at least one pad can capture moisture and/or particles from the aerosol as the aerosol travels along the air flow path through the mouthpiece and the at least one pad.

A vaporizer device comprising:
- a vaporizer cartridge;
- and
- a vaporizer body;
- wherein the vaporizer cartridge comprises:
- a cartridge body comprising a proximal body end and a distal body end opposite the proximal body end;
- a mouthpiece coupled to the proximal body end, wherein the mouthpiece comprises an outlet;
- a reservoir comprising an internal volume at least partially defined by the cartridge body, wherein the internal volume is configured to hold a vaporizable material;
- at least one reservoir seal configured to cover at least one reservoir opening exposing the internal volume of the reservoir;
- a bottom cover comprising a bottom portion positioned distally relative to the cartridge body;
- a first cartridge electrical contact configured to contact a first body electrical contact on a vaporizer body;
- a second cartridge electrical contact configured to contact a second body electrical contact on the vaporizer body;
- and
- a vaporization chamber comprising:
- a heating element configured to heat the vaporizable material from the reservoir to generate an aerosol,
- a wicking material,
- a housing piece configured to house at least a portion of the wicking material, and
- a tube configured to deliver the aerosol to the mouthpiece;
- wherein the vaporizer body comprises:
- a cartridge receiver configured to insertably receive the vaporizer cartridge, wherein the cartridge receiver comprises:
- a first body electrical contact configured to electrically couple to the first cartridge electrical contact of the vaporizer cartridge,
- a second body electrical contact configured to electrically couple to the second cartridge electrical contact of the vaporizer cartridge,
- an insertion end into which the vaporizer cartridge is inserted;
- and
- circuitry to detect an insertion and a removal of the vaporizer cartridge from the cartridge receiver, wherein in response to detecting a predetermined activation sequence comprising one or more insertions and removals of the vaporizer cartridge from the cartridge receiver, a vaporization temperature is selected from among a plurality of predetermined vaporization temperatures.
