Abstract
The present invention relates to a vaccine suitable for immunisation against influenza, plague or Y. pestis infection said vaccine comprising outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) and the plague vaccine including the V and/or F1 antigens of Y. pestis.
Claims9
A vaccine suitable for immunization against influenza infection said vaccine comprising outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) characterized in that within and/or on the outer membrane of Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron (Bt) OMVs influenza-specific viral antigens are delivered in a form capable of eliciting antigen specific immune and antibody responses in mucosal tissues and/or systemically wherein the OMVs are produced by modified Bt wherein the genes or mini-genes encoding influenza-specific viral antigens are cloned downstream of sequences encoding N-terminal signal peptides from Bt genes whose products are contained within the lumen or outer membrane of OMVs.
A vaccine suitable for immunization against influenza infection said vaccine comprising:
- outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) produced by modified Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron (Bt), wherein the OMVs comprise, within the lumen or outer membrane of the OMVs, influenza A virus (IAV) antigens comprising an H-stalk hemagglutinin (HA) mini-stem antigen derived from influenza A virus strain H5N1 (VN/04:
- A/VietNam/1203/04),
- wherein the HA mini-stem antigen is a pre-fusion, headless HA construct N-terminally fused to the OmpA signal peptide of Bt;
- wherein the genes or mini-genes encoding the IAV antigens are cloned downstream of sequences encoding N-terminal signal peptides from Bt genes whose products are contained within the lumen or outer membrane of OMVs;
- and
- wherein the OMVs are delivered in a form capable of eliciting antigen specific immune and antibody responses in mucosal tissues and/or systemically.
