Abstract
A system for retrieving material from a cavity in a patient may include a tube having a proximal end and a distal end, the scope configured to be inserted into the cavity, and a filter assembly disposed between the tube and a vacuum source configured to apply negative pressure through the tube to cause the material to flow through the tube from the distal end to the proximal end, the filter assembly including a filter configured to trap the material in the filter assembly, and allow liquid and gases to pass through the filter assembly.
Claims19
A medical system, comprising:
- a tube having a proximal end and a distal end, the tube configured to be inserted into a bodily cavity;
- and
- a filter assembly coupled to the tube and configured to be coupled to a vacuum source to apply negative pressure through the tube to cause a material to flow through the tube from the distal end to the proximal end, the filter assembly including:
- a container defining a volume and including a housing and a port extending from the housing, wherein the port extends perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the housing, and
- a filter enclosed within the volume of the container, the filter being configured to trap a solid of the material in the filter assembly and to allow liquid and gas of the material to pass through the filter assembly;
- wherein when the filter assembly is coupled to the vacuum source, the housing of the filter assembly is linearly aligned with the tube and the vacuum source.
A medical system, comprising:
- a tube having a proximal end and a distal end, the tube configured to be inserted into a bodily cavity;
- a filter assembly coupled to the tube and configured to be coupled to a vacuum source to apply negative pressure through the tube to cause a material to flow through the tube from the distal end to the proximal end, the filter assembly including:
- a container including a housing and a port extending perpendicular from a longitudinal axis of the housing, and
- a filter configured to trap a solid of the material in the filter assembly and to allow liquid and gas of the material to pass through the filter assembly;
- and
- a removable cap at an end of the port;
- wherein when the filter assembly is coupled to the vacuum source, the housing of the filter assembly is linearly aligned with the tube and the vacuum source.
A medical system, comprising:
- a tube having a proximal end and a distal end, the tube configured to be inserted into a bodily cavity;
- an attachment removably coupled to the distal end of the tube;
- and
- a filter assembly coupled to the tube and configured to be coupled to a vacuum source to apply negative pressure through the tube to cause a material to flow through the tube from the distal end to the proximal end, the filter assembly including:
- a container defining a volume and including a housing and a port extending perpendicular from the housing;
- a filter enclosed within the volume of the container and configured to trap a solid of the material in the filter assembly and to allow liquid and gas of the material to pass through the filter assembly;
- and
- a removable cap at an end of the port;
- wherein when the filter assembly is coupled to the vacuum source, the housing of the filter assembly is linearly aligned with the tube and the vacuum source.
