Abstract
Stable compositions comprising 1-methylcyclopropene and a low volatility stabilizer, and methods of using the composition, are provided. Methods for using the compositions in delaying the maturation of plants, such as fruits, vegetables, and flowers are also provided.
Claims24
A composition comprising:
- 1-methylcyclopropene;
- and
- a stabilizer selected from the group consisting of:
- a lower alkane, a lower alkene, a lower dialkyl ether, and combinations thereof;
- with the proviso that the 1-methylcyclopropene is not complexed to a host compound or metal complex, and wherein the 1-methylcyclopropene is not adsorbed;
- and
- wherein the composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of the stabilizer;
- wherein the composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 10% by volume of the 1-methylcyclopropene;
- and wherein the composition comprises less than 5% by weight of water.
